Both of the skin fermented, or orange wines, come from our estate Biodynamic vineyard, deLanda. The 2019 Skin Fermented Grüner Veltliner is 100% Grüner Veltliner and on the palate it's fresh and almost cider like, with flavors of green apples, lemon zest and white peaches with a clean mineral finish. The 2019 Field Blend is a blend of the white varieties that we grow - 34% Grüner Veltliner, 42% Riesling and 24% Muscat, beautifully balanced with fresh tropical notes from the Muscat, floral and citrus from the Riesling and Grüner. It's weighted with savory and spicy notes from the extended skin contact. Both are foot treaded and then fermented on the skins for about 2 weeks, unfined, unfiltered and aged in neutral oak barrels for about 7 months.
The 2019 Carbonic Syrah is 100% Syrah from Coquelicot's organic vineyard here in the Santa Ynez Valley. To create the freshest, chillable red wine possible, we used Carbonic Maceration which lets the wine ferment whole cluster untouched in a sealed tank. After 7 days we press the grape clusters to barrel. That's it. No manipulation or additions of any kind.
