2021 Grüner Veltliner Spear Vineyard

The most popular grape in Austria, Grüner Veltliner is a great alternative to Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc. We are extremely passionate about Grüner Veltliner and are excited to release this single vineyard Grüner from the Spear Vineyard. This organic Santa Rita Hills vineyard showcases California Grüner grown near the sea. Ocean fog and sandy soils contribute to its expressive citrus and salinity. The Grüner was planted in the lowest and coolest spot on the 100 acre property and retains wonderful acidity and freshness. The vines native to Austria have taken incredibly well to Spear's sandy soils and climate.

This 2021 vintage is a happy hour in a glass! It's packed with aromas of fresh juicy limes along with a lemon zest twist and tart green apples. This Grüner is medium bodied on the palate with a savory salty finish that makes it an incredible food pairing wine.  We love pairing this with a hot sunny day and drinking it alongside lemony orzo with asparagus, oven roasted branzino and of course schnitzel.
