2021 Blumenfeld Red Field Blend
Blumenfeld, meaning "Field in Bloom", is our first wine that combines all three red varietals from our Biodynamic and Regenerative Organic Farm and vineyard. We harvested and co-fermented our recently planted Austrian Varietals, Blaufränkisch and St. Laurent, with the originally established Syrah to truly express the terroir and personality of our vineyard. We love how the bright fruit of the Blaufränkisch enhances the fuller feel of the Syrah while the St, Laurent adds just a bit of spice and roundness to the mid palate. Each grape while distinct blends wonderfully in a potpourri of aroma and flavor. The wine was fermented using only native yeast, aged in neutral oak barrels for 15 months and bottle unfined and unfiltered using only gravity.
When the bottle is first opened aromas of fresh cut purple flowers, mint, smoke and wild blackberries jump out of the glass. On the palate, it's got juicy tart red fruit with some savory notes of tomato leaf and earth. On the finish theres some finely knit tannin with notes of grapefruit and black pepper. A cool vintage led to a lower alcohol and fresher fruit making it a perfect match with food. Try it with Cassoulet, Eggplant Roulade, Beef Tenderloin or Braised Lamb.
