2015 Grüner Veltliner

It may be hard to pronounce but easy to drink with hints of green apple and spicy citrus. While it’s the most popular varietal in Austria, this refreshing and dry white is showing up more and more is showing up on more and more American wine lists. Grüner is revered by sommeliers due to its food friendly nature and ability to pair with a variety of dishes.
Grün means green and this color is noticable in the glass. Aromas of green apple, white pepper, melon and a slight hint of lychee persist. Pear and citrus notes follow with a zesty lime twist as a finish.
Grüner is indeed food friendly; pairing well with fish, pork, chicken, summer soups, spring salads and vegetables including hard to match items like asparagus. We especially love it with a traditional chicken, pork or veal schnitzel!
